London Birthday Weekend (Part 1)

As you all may know this is my 40th birthday and I went to London for the weekend to celebrate it.  We went up on the Friday night courtesy of the MegaBus.

We had booked to stay in the Holiday Inn
Doubletree in Southwark which is to the East of London not too far away from London Bridge and the London Eye.
Very impressed by the hotel nice and clean and the staff were so friendly and nice.
The rooms were average sized with a shower and clean bathroom, funky striped carpets run through out.

Our room had a double bed in and a kind of put up double bed with soft or firm pillows to chose from.
With the overnight stay breakfast was included: this was quite nice: some cereals on offer: croissants and toast, beans, scrambled eggs and sausages, no bacon or mushrooms, but then again this may have bothered some people but I was fine with that a nice fill up before busy days in London.

My only gripe and that's not the hotel faults, is the lack of taxis grrrrr.

So this was the start of our fun....

Birthday Weekend In London (Part 2)

I had probably one of my best weekends in London ever.  I went to the Ice Bar, The Hilton for high tea, The Penthouse Nightclub and shopped everywhere, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Knightsbridge, just wished I had more time in the city that doesn't sleep.

I've got some great memories and my fav photo is the last one our tube selfie::: I think the commuters thought we were nuts!!!

Monday, 28 April 2014

I was recently asked to create an outfit post to showcase a look that I would wear if I was attending a cocktail reception and four course dinner aboard the MSC SPLENDIDA  so this outfit I bought as I thought it was cruise ship appropriate.

Classy dress yet with an edge to it courtesy of the back.

So if the event were a reality I'd hope I'd look nice.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation: My Thoughts !!

I'm normally one of the first to jump on a "cult
product" or a bloggers fav, but with the NARS
Sheer Glow I held back I don't know why but I did.
But I've finally given in, I read loads of posts on it first but you never know what something's like really unless you try it yourself.
I looked at all the shades on the NARS website to see what would be my closest, I have to be honest the shade choice is really really good in that you get the shades put into:: lights, medium and dark.

As I was buying from off the internet and not trying it out I was a bit scared I would chose wrong and end up having to take the foundation back to Nars:
So after "hours" of searching and looking at swatches I finally decided on Santa Fe, this colour is in the medium bracket.
I do really like the fact there are shades for porcelain skin and for dark skin that what we want.

Anyway the foundation came today, disappointing there is no pump with it and you literally have to open the lid and put some on your hand, you can order a pump separately online, the bottle is glass so might be a pain when you travel but you could always pour some in a little travel bottle.
And my picture above is nearly a bare selfie (yuck) apart from the eyelashes and foundation that's me bare!!

But I did like the look of the foundation on my skin: and believe me being 40 in three days I need all the help around ahhhhh.

Fashion Post: Next Flat Pumps

I thought I would do a couple of fashion posts now, to mix the blog up between fashion beauty and bit of lifestyle:::
I love fashion and think makeup up and

clothes go hand in hand...

I love next for  homeware and shoes and clothes: the only thing that's disappointed me is they don't have a huge selection of shoes for people with wider feet like myself.

I like shoes from Next but as my feet as wide I often have to cram them in shoes and they look like two barges stuck in shoes and I end up with blisters and all that.

The pumps I've bought as above are gorgeous and are under £30 so not too expensive. They have a pretty sparkly bow on the front and are smart enough to dress up an outfit, my only negative thought is I'm a size 6 in shoes and that counts for NEXT but these shoes are much bigger than my feet, I bought them online so hadn't tried them on, maybe as they are for wider feet then they are made a bit bigger in general, I'm going to buy insoles for them so it's not a big deal.

They are pretty from summer would you agree?

Percy & Reed No Oil Oil

Ok so no oil oil that doesn't even sound right does it?

So what is it you ask? Well basically for me
it's my new found life saviour.

I love everything I've tried from Percyandreed. So far so good. This is as the title describes oil for the hair without the oil.

I have really really fine hair but a lot of it so anything I stick in it weighs it down and makes it feel gross, flat lifeless and in need of a good wash.

I picked this up from beautybay and thought I would try it.

After I washed my hair I put a pump of it in my palm and then worked through my hair and dried as usual.

My verdict is it's amazing left my hair soft shiny and manageable would I buy it again I certainly will be.

What oils do you like?

And have you tried this one?

Birthday Wishlist Part 2

Hey guys yet another birthday Wishlist this
one is a bit scaled down, what girl wouldn't include makeup on their list, not many I don't think.

So what have I put on mine, well there's a handbag first from riverisland probably one of my fav places to buy a bag from.  I would feel super stylish with this one.

Next following with my obsession with Chanel makeup it's the new healthy glow powder it's not out yet but I really want this, so pretty for summer.

A girl can't have enough nail polishes and another brand that always keeps me interested is essie I liked the mint apple candy one, really liking the mint look on nails at the moment.

And lastly love ysl makeup to: I like the Volupte shine ones I'd love any colour in these all so wearable.

Clothes I simply cannot live without

Rare London are currently running a competition to win £200.00 to spend on their website all you have to do is share an item of clothing you simply cannot live without.

Ok so I was tagged by the gorgeous Laura from so here's mine.

This was me over a decade ago: so I say I can't live without it, I wouldn't wear it now and don't even have it, but for me it holds so much good memories.

I bought it from and back then to me it was expensive.  I was a baby pink colour with sequins running down it.  Cut on the bias it was so flattering::::

Why did I love it so much::: i had the most fun ever wearing that dress: I felt a million dollars even if I didn't look it, I felt it plus I was the happiest I've ever been, to cut a long story short I was 27 years old: healthy happy and this was the start of my new life away from the turmoil I had escaped from, I vowed from then on in I would never look back and to me that dress is always that happy memory.

So Rare London I'd love to feel like that again and my fortieth birthday is at the end of April so being an older version of this is not all bad.

The beauty blogger tag

I was tagged by the lovely Jess from lovelyjubbly blog to take part in the tag so here are my answers:

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I started May 2013 after being inspired by fellow bloggers posts and I love doing it.

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
I loved pixi woo on you tube I tried vlogging but feel more at home writing than seeing myself on screen (yuck)

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product that you bought? Was it worth the hype?
Was the Giorgio Armani highlighter product: I still feel sick about the price! No it wasn't worth the hype as my Dior highlighter knocks it out of the park (whoops)

What are your five favourite things  about blogging and being a beauty blogger?

Being able to try things you have never heard of before: I love trying new things.
I've started being sent things from companies::: to review that is so rewarding: I didn't start for that, but every time I have an email now from companies I still get a little wooop inside.
This is the only hobby I've stuck at which proves to me it's right for me: I don't have masses of followers but the ones I have are so loyal
I love interacting with other bloggers and over the year I've met some of the nicest.
Is making a difference to someone: and having your opinion valued.

What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
That a look that looks amazing on someone may not on you: be brave and try new things but find a look that suits you.

What advice would you give to a blogger starting out?
If your in it for the freebies then it's not for you, you need to do it for the love, it's not an easy hobby, you have to really love it, anything that does come with it is a bound, don't feel the need to buy the latest products you don't need to, and be yourself.

What are your top 5 makeup brands?
Max factor

Recommend your top 5 beauty products
Liz Earle (cleanse & polish)
Sigma Makeup Brushes
Mac Eyeliners
Benefit face primer
Ultra Sun sun cream (don't be without SPF)

I'm not tagging anyone::::

Lots of love

My Birthday (40th) Wishlist Highend

Well my birthday is coming I feel like I've been waiting a lifetime for it but it here in just over a week and a half: I haven't had the chance before to celebrate my milestone birthdays I.e my 18th or 21st so my 40th to me is huge.
I don't feel 40 and I know I don't act it so I attend to party like I'm 21 ha ha.

So all my friends etc have been asking me what I want I don't really think I'm too difficult to buy for, but if I was asked to compile a high end list it would include some of the items as above.

I love Ted Baker and I've already been lucky in that I've had an early present of a bag, I love the purses especially the ones with the bows on how cute. Any colour I'm not fussy.

I love victorRolf flower bomb perfume to: the smell is amazing: it's not the cheapest perfume around so that's why it's in my high end list.  It's one of those special occasion perfumes.

And last but not least the gorgeous thomassabo I wouldn't be fussy whatever you get from there is stunning but the necklaces are something else. This would be something I would be scared to take off my neck. It's a classy piece.

What do you think of my list guys

Loving Coral Nails: Nails Inc

I'm loving all things coral now: nice and bright and cheery:::
It looks nice on your nails especially if you have a bit of a tan:::

This is definitely one of my favourite colours at the moment.

This nail polish is from nailsinc and it's one of their new neon shades, I think they must be on trend this year as I've seen loads of neon colours and I'm liking them.

So in terms of a nail polish how does this one rate?  Well as I've said colour wise great, but application not so, as you can see from my first nail it's quite streaky and that was with two good coats and not from my hand but a nail tech.  On the plus side it's been on for a good few days and hasn't chipped so all in all not bad but for a more expensive polish I was a little disappointed on the streaky ness of it.

What do you think of the neons?

Three Of My Favorite Summer Sandals

Summer is nearly here and I love it, but maintenance wise it's much more!!! Tanning, leg shaving, feet scrubbing, and nail polishing!
We can't hide it in boots anymore:::
So as soon as our toes are out I've picked three sandals I really like.

The top ones are from Dune priced at £59.00, I like these because they have a cobalt blue strap and leopard print piece where your toe goes, I think cobalt and leopard looks lovely together. You could dress these up or down,

The pink ones are from priced at £40.00 these have a chain trim I love these, the chain give these sandals an edge.

The last pair are from Oasis priced at £38.00 these are smart sandals perfect for the office,

Have you seen any nice sandals this year

Loving Primark Coral Shoes

I'm loving all the citrus colours around at the moment: the bright yellows, pinks, oranges and corals really brighten up an outfit or your mood.

I'm going to London soon for my birthday and wearing a grey dress so I was desperate for a colour to brighten my outfit up so it didn't look drab.

I thought coral was the way to go nice and bright, I've been looking for shoes for a few weeks now and not found anything, but after nosing through EBAY recently I found these coral high heels from Primark.  I had to have them, think they were around £12.00 and I have to be honest I love them.
You get so many amazing things in Primark but it's not for the  quick shopper you have to have the patience and time to sift through the racks because you will find a bargain if you look.

So dress and shoes and nail colour sorted I just need my clutch bag now which I want a coral one.
If anyone sees a nice one give me a shout!!!

Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm

Anything that picks your skin up especially in the morning is a winner in my books, and that's what I would say about this beaut from Elemis, I do use their products anyway although I don't think I would have bought the Flash Balm.

I bought a selection of products from Elemis and I had a free 15ml size of the product.

I cleansed my face doing my normal routine and then put the Flash Balm onto my face and then applied my makeup as normal.

So what did I think?

Well let's just say without sounding aloof I looked like I had the best skin ever, (well I did have help from the balm) my skin looked glowing and not only that my makeup stayed put all day,   Not good I know on my purse because I need the full sized one:: hello Elemis goodbye money.

I hope this product has the same effect in the summer, as it might stop that melted makeup look!!!

Percy & Reed Colour Shine Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I started using Percy&Reed products when one of their treatment masks was reviewed and beauty editors couldn't rate it highly enough, so I bought that and liked it and thought I would try their shampoo and conditioner.

I bought the Really Rather Radiant Colour Shine Shampoo & Conditioner from QVC in 250 ml.
I like the packaging firstly it's very retro classy old school, which surprisingly I like: it's like old fashioned glamour you could imagine Audrey Hepburn having it in her bathroom but also Kate Moss.

So as a product what's it like?

Well in it contains Raspberry Oil, white grape seed oil and aloe Vera gel.
The smell is very subtle it's not in your face perfumed but smells nice enough to have that clean hair smell.
Lather wise, I tend to have to wash my hair twice and I wash my coloured hair every other day.  On the second wash you get a good lather.
Rinse out and add the conditioner and leave that on for a few minutes and wash out: they also advise giving your hair then a cold rinse to seal in shine, I'm not a fan of that I hate a freezing head but it's a good tip.

I found my hair fine to dry after using this and I didn't end up with a frizzy fussy mess either
Would I buy it again yes I would.
Oh and when it came from QVC the products were wrapped in paper with scissors on funky eh.
