Love a Christmas shopping bargain

Love a bit of Christmas shopping and I do love Boots for there 3 for 2 offers.

I always do lists for Christmas and stick to it for my kids, but when it comes to getting things for other people I tend to buy a bit more incase I forget someone or when I put things in piles for people if it doesn't look enough I can get them something else.

I think i may have gone a bit overboard on the kids this year oooops, but I love Christmas and it's so exciting for them.

But I think I did ok today, just got a few more things to get and I'm done.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar anti-blemish system review

The lovely people at La Roche-Posay sent me there new 3 step anti-blemish system to try and I was delighted here's what you get and my results, the kit I used and my daughter who has acne prone skin being a teenager suffering quite bad from this.

So you start off with the cleanser which is a gel formula, so doesn't spill everywhere when you squeeze it out, a little goes a long way which is why I like gel cleansers, I found it a like drying for me, but for my daughters oily acne skin it's amazing, left her
skin feeling squeaky clean which she loved.  This is
designed for oily skin prone to breakouts and works best for this skin.

The Clarifying Toner next in the kit you use after
cleansing, I'd pour some on my cotton pad and
sweep over my face to remove any dirt or grime left on my face, which doesn't help those pesky spots they love oil and dirt, my daughter tended to use this round her nose and her forehead where her spots were worse and it helped dry them up, I don't have spots often on my face much now, but for some reason i do get them on my neck which I find gross for me, I think some hormonal changes are going on GROSS, but this has helped dry mine up a bit, again can be a bit drying on the skin but I would expect this to happen I'd rather have my skin dried up a little than spots.

And then onto the little gem that is the Anti-blemish cream, now something my skin does have is brown marks and sometimes a bit of redness, so I hid this from my daughter and used it just myself, don't tell her, and I'm smitten, it's got rid of nasty marks and little red blemishes I have, and I swear it's faded out my brown marks a bit.

All in all a fab little kit can be a little drying but a small price to pay to get rid of spots and other skin nasties.  This kit is available from boot.co.uk

*pr sent for review.

In the face of it all

Lots of people have asked me in work and on twitter what foundation I've been using,  well if your a reader of my posts you will know I'm a fan of Nars Sheer Glow, but I've had a foundation change around and I'm currently using Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, with The Laura Mercier hydrating primer and using my trusty Real Techniques brush.

Why do I like the foundation, well it makes my skin look flawless, and airbrushed.

As with everything the base has to be good hence why I use my primer, after all you wouldn't paint without sanding down would you.

The stippling brush is what I use to really work the foundation into my skin and it works.

The only thing I don't like about the foundation is the smell: it's like a cross between talcum powder and a perfume that I wouldn't like.  But once the foundation is on your skin you can't smell it anymore, and the effect it gives you is so good I can live with that.

Early morning makeup choose pink

Hey lovelies, I do have a bit of a thing for makeup (hence the blog name) and I love lipstick, lip glosses, lip crayons you name it, and I love nearly
every colour.

But having two poorly children this weekend and not much sleep at all, I'm not looking my best, it's safe to say I look across between scary Mary and a sleep deprived unkempt mess.

Personally I know it's not about me when your kids are ill but you have to do something when your feeling and looking like a zombie, but not only that these pics are my go to most normal mornings.

I think pink and nude is a good colour to flatter nearly everyone and can make you look a bit brighter.

Out of the glosses in my pic I really like the Clarins & the Mac one the best.

I keep most of these ones in my hand bag so I have something to perk up my face when the tired ness kicks in.

Do you have any tips to make you feel better when your tired.

My Hair Update I've Dyed it at home

So this is my hair update, I coloured it last night, as I wrote in my previous post this week my aim was to get strawberry blonde hair using professional hair colour.

My hair to start with was a light caramel brown colour which had faded down from being copper gold.

The products I used were Wella colour charm in Titian Red Blonde and Light Golden Blonde I mixed this with a Wella developer in 20 vol.

I actually think the colours ok but it's not want I wanted, I don't think that's down to the product think it's more my initial start colour.

I think I want it a golden copper now, if anyone knows where to go for hair rehab, for people who change it and colour there's all the time let me know he he ....

That healthy glow yes you can fake it

Not all of us are blessed with natural glowing skin so
what do we do to get it.
Well we cheat of course!!!

So what do I use to get mine well I shall tell you my secret. Shhhhh don't tell anyone else though.

If you want perfect looking flawless skin with quite a lot of coverage then you need to use Laura Mercier Silk Illuminous Foundation. Literally your skin looks perfect and not far away from a magazine cover honestly it does.

Then I use my Chanel Cream Bronzer now if you are looking at my picture the hairs in it and from my makeup brush I know it looks gross but I can't be sitting picking them all out, that is the only negative with a cream bronzer.  I contour my face with the bronzer under my cheek bone.

Then I apply my Dior Rosy Glow blusher on the apples of my cheeks, don't over use this one as you will look like a doll, but the colour adapts to your eon skin tone so wait a few minutes after applying to see if you need anymore.

Another Dior lovely is the Nude Highlighter which is beautiful, I use the above my blusher, under my eyebrows and down the bridge of my nose.

Have a go and I'd love to see and here your thoughts as to whether these were good on achieving Your glow.

Can you colour at home just like the salon

Can you colour your hair at home just like the salon?
Well I'm going to try it out and see and then i will post with an update, I'm dying to colour it now as I've got lots of grey coming through but I can't yet as Im waiting for another bottle of Wella Colour Charm to come from America in Titian Red Blonde.
It's really annoying as we can get any colour charm products in the UK and I have to order them and they take ages to arrive.

The Matrix products are a little bit easier to get but truthfully most things are coming from Ebay.

I've got the cream develop in 10 vol but I've ordered another Wella in 20 to see if I can get the strawberry blonde colour I am aiming for.  My hair is copper brown gold currently.

Salon colour is a plus as you don't have to mix colours or do anything yourself but obviously it's more expensive to do this.  The mixing instructions on the hair dyes look easy to follow so I hope i manage to get a good result.

What do you think about hair colouring?

Find the time for yourself

Finding time to chill out and even write new posts is difficult when you haven't got time to chill out.  I'm sure most people reading this will have studies, work, or a family to look after so your lucky to have a minute to yourself.

I'm struggling to find time at the moment but I'm trying to steal it from doing other things.  I normally do a hair

mask on the weekend with the
Moroccanoil restorative one as my hair is quite damaged from too much
bleaching oops I'm using this one until my hair gets a bit better and then il switch masks to a hydrating one.
Whilst my hair is restoring I shove a mask GlamGlow is the one I'm using at the minute, smells nice to shove on your face it's like a nice smelling mud, who would think of that. And after I've cleaned my house I have a bath have a good scrub with my Soap & Glory scrub and then moisturise.
I find this is good for getting your own
maintenance done whilst getting other things done.

The only draw back to this method is someone always knocks the door either the postman or a work man anyone and I look like I've returned from a night out at Halloween.

Do you make time for yourself?

Anti Ageing Look After Your Skin

Alpha H Liquid Gold

If you are worried about how your skin is looking, or the surface doesn't look great, if you suffer from  skin with blotches or pigmentation this is the product for you.

I don't use this every day this for me is a twice a
week thing, I put some on a cotton wool pad and sweep over my face when I have removed my makeup. This removes all traces of remaining makeup, leaves my skin soft and smooth and I think I hyperventilate when I realise I haven't got much left.

Some days I find it a bit too much for my skin after all it is an acid treatment, so if my skins feeling extra sensitive it doesn't like it.  Don't be scared to use it though, you do get a tingling feeling when you use it I kind of like this, it feels like it's doing something woo hoo.  I would

recommend in a heat beat anti ageing at its best.

Chanel Sublimage Eye Cream

I think that when you are dealing with ageing the eye area is the first to show.  The skin around the eyes is very thin, so we have to look after it.  I'm a lovely of eye creams and serums anything to keep this area hydrated.  I'm very lucky that I'm not a prune (wrinkly) just being honest, but I do look after my skin the best I can, so when Chanel brought out their Sublimage range I was very skeptical to begin with after all some of their products in this line I think I could have bought some Louboutins for the same price, but their eye cream interested me.  It's quite a tidy size and is so rich you literally only use a tiny bit.  I use the cream at night and pat around my eye area.  I don't use it in the morning as I think sometimes it makes my eyeliner smudge.

Have I noticed a difference??

Not hugely but my eye area is nice and hydrated which isin't a bad thing, could something else cheaper do that job, yes probably.

How to save your skin from the winter.

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed Halloween, my fridge looks like I've had a party in Tesco there is so many packs of sweets...
Anyway now that's over and we are into November yikes the weather will defo go cold wintery windy you name it and that's not good for your skin, including
the biggest culprit central heating.

So what do you do?
Well you have to step up your skin care routine big time.
This includes drinking lots of water and lots of facial care and masks. So I've selected a few I like using and I'm using at the moment.

Clinique: Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

This is one of my favourites, I slap this on after I come out the bath once I double cleansed my face and my pores are still open.  The texture is quite thick but I think you need that to combat the weather.  I find the mask sinks in really well and quick so you can go to bed knowing you won't have a
big greasy face mark on your pillow.

Elemis: Papaya Enzyme Peel

I do already like a lot of Elemis products they are recognised as a leading skincare brand and with good reason.  They are not particularly good if your on a bit of a budget but if you want decent results in this case it's worth paying.  The Papaya Peel is lovely to apply smells fruity and is luxurious to apply. In terms of exfoliating this masks does that but in the most gentle way...Exfoliating is still key to help your masks work.

GlamGlow Youth Mud

This is a newish purchase for me I've been late buying this as I know a lot of bloggers have raved about it for a while, but I don't always jump on the band wagon and I've had a lot of other skincare to use up.  So if you have used this you will know how this works but if not, this is a mud like mask (the name may have given that clue) the good thing it's not as messy as I thought, you apply it on your face and it drys quickly I'd say in about ten minutes and then you rinse off with warmish water.  I find this leaves my face clear smooth and glowing.

I hope this helps anyone who struggling with their skin this winter.

What do you like to help your skin.

People who's style I love and my inspiration

Hey guys I don't know if you have inspirations or people you admire for many reasons, I have a few obviously I admire people who raise money for

charities etc but in celeb terms I have two style
icons, I don't want to be like them or copy them after all I think I may struggle to fit in their clothes oooops but these are the reason I like them.

1. Victoria Beckham

So why do I like her, well she was my fav Spice Girl, I didn't think she sung too well but I loved her classic bob and her style, I like how she's changed her style through the years and I liked how she's carried on despite having four children.  I know she gets criticised for everything but she could just sit at home with her handsome husband and do lunch, but she's carried on doing things she loves.  Don't get me wrong she's had some dodgy hairstyles and the infamous has she or not (boob job) but I like now how she's kept her style simple to what suits and she

looks happy in her own skin.  People will have
opinions but in my books she's cool.

2. Olivia Palermo

I really like Olivia's style so it's not so much about her as a person or anything like that.  I used to watch The City with Whitney Port who was in The Hills, she didn't come across too well in that, but I think it may have been edited to come across like that anyway.  But as far as fashion makeup and hair goes her look is flawless.  I've never seen her with a dodgy hairstyle dodgy outfit or the look of last nights makeup.  Maybe she should show herself a bit less perfect like running to the shop in her pyjamas but maybe for her that would be fate worse than death. But in true stylish terms she's right up there.

Who do you look to for makeup and style.

Halloween at my house

Hope all you lovelies had a good Halloween we did, we decorated the house with allsorts of spooky things.

Carving the pumpkins was a bit gross but they looked pretty good when they were done, we left them outside with tea lights in.  Next year I'm going to buy loads of pumpkins and put them all over my patio.

The kids came back with bags full of sweets, chocolates and money::: who gives money but the kids didn't mind.

And best of all it stayed dry so all in all bit of a good night, so the countdown to bonfire night begins.

Happy Halloween Everyone
